Join Freeva in the 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence

November 25th marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), a global campaign that brings together individuals, organisations, and governments to demand an end to violence against women and girls. At Freeva, we are proud to be part of this crucial movement, amplifying calls for change, raising awareness, and advocating for systemic action to combat gender-based violence.

Understanding the Crisis

Violence against women and girls remains one of the most widespread human rights violations globally. The statistics are alarming:

1 in 3 women will experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime.

1 in 4 adolescent girls will face abuse from their partners.

Tragically, many women lose their lives every year due to violence perpetrated by intimate partners or family members.

These figures represent more than just numbers—they reflect the real, devastating impact of violence on survivors, their families, and communities. At Freeva, we are determined to support survivors and ensure that women and girls are not only protected but also empowered to reclaim their lives.

What we offer:

How Freeva Supports Survivors

Our trained caseworkers
provide compassionate confidential support to survivors of  domestic & sexual violence,
helping them navigate their options and access the services they need. This includes guidance through the legal process and emotional support.

Crisis Intervention

  • Helplines and crisis support: Caseworkers providing immediate assistance and connecting individuals to necessary resources.

Therapeutic Support

We can support our clients to focus on healing and recovery, providing a safe environment for survivors to explore their experiences and work through trauma.

Education and Awareness

We engage with the community to raise awareness about sexual violence and the importance of consent, aiming to prevent future incidents and foster a culture of respect.

What You Can Do to Help End Gender-Based Violence

The 16 Days of Activism is not just a time for reflection, but a call to action. Ending violence against women and girls requires collective effort. Here are some ways you can contribute to this important cause:

Educate Yourself and Others

Understanding the root causes of gender-based violence is essential in tackling this issue. Educate yourself on the various forms of abuse, the barriers survivors face, and how you can be an ally. Share this knowledge with your family, friends, and colleagues to help raise awareness and spread the message that violence is never acceptable.

Challenge Inequality and Harmful Norms

Violence is often perpetuated by harmful societal norms and attitudes. Speak out against toxic behaviours, stereotypes, and systems that devalue women and girls. Whether in your workplace, community, or daily life, help challenge gender inequality and promote respect and equality for all.

Support Survivors and Freeva

Support survivors through volunteering, donating, or sharing vital resources. Your actions can make a real difference in the lives of those affected by gender-based violence. Additionally, raising awareness about available support services and advocating for stronger policies can help protect victims and hold perpetrators accountable.

Amplify the Call for Change

During the 16 Days of Activism, we invite you to raise your voice alongside Freeva in calling for systemic change. Whether through social media, attending local events, or supporting advocacy campaigns, every action matters in spreading the message that gender-based violence is unacceptable.

Remember, the journey to recovery is unique for everybody.
Know that you are not alone, and that Freeva are here whenever you need us to listen and support.
