Role Description

 

What service will I be volunteering in?

Helpline Engagement Service – confidential advice, emotional support, and practical guidance to all individuals affected by domestic abuse, sexual violence, and harmful behaviours.

What might I be doing? 

You might be asked to help with some of the following: 

  • Checking our voicemail inbox, recording the details and returning calls to offer reassurance and next steps. 
  • Uploading professional referrals into our system and getting in touch with agencies to confirm they’ve been received. 

 

Once you feel comfortable, you might have the opportunity to help with: 

  • Calling people who have reached out to us and completing an initial assessment using our standard set of questions 
  • Working through a DASH (Domestic Abuse, Stalking, and Harassment, and Honour-based violence) risk check list with service users 
  • Completing safeguarding or police referrals  
  • Writing up clear notes on our case management system  

 

What’s the commitment? 

We’d love it if you could give between 3 –7 hours a week on average for 6 months to a year.  

Likely volunteer shifts: 

  • Day time – Wednesdays or Thursdays (between 10am – 4pm) OR 
  • Early evenings – Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays (between 4pm – 8pm) 

 Induction and training will likely be 6 sessions of 2-3 hours: 

  • 2 weekday or early evening sessions* 
  • 4 Saturday morning sessions 

*Depending on group availability
